In December 2022, the AASHTOWare community lost one of its greatest champions.

Lisa Durbin from the Montana Department of Transportation passed away leaving big shoes to fill. She was involved in so many areas of AASHTOWare.

For close to 20 years, she managed the Bureau containing the Construction Systems section later became Engineering Systems. With Lisa leading, the Bureau implemented, developed, trained for, and supported BAMS/DSS, PES/LAS, Expedite, SiteManager and currently AASHTOWare Project Estimation, Preconstruction, Civil Rights & Labor, Construction & Materials, Data Analytics and Bids.

Lisa was a Materials TAG member and Assistant Coordinator. Construction TAG member, a member of the Materials and Construction TRT’s. She was also a Project Task Force member and attended the Project User Group (PUG) conference for 20+ years including being a key part of Montana hosting the conference in 2017.

Lisa initiated Montana’s involvement in AASHTOWare Project development solicitations for Estimation and Data Analytics as well as various Construction & Materials enhancements. She “volunteered” Montana to Alpha Test product enhancements and could often be found clicking away on her computer no matter where we were, as we listened to her favorite Disney movie songs.

Lisa was the Product Owner and the driving force behind the Hybrid Agile Training. She spent several hours a week meeting with the Hybrid Agile Training Team and reviewing the training materials. Thus, ensuring the training met expectations and shaping the final product for roll out.

Everything Lisa did, she did with a passion. She will be greatly missed, not only for her caring and supportive personality, but for her involvement with and her impact on AASHTOWare Project. She really was a dynamo.
